What Affects Your
Copper Price

Copper scrap pricing is based on the daily COMEX copper price — the global benchmark for copper commodity trading. From there, the price you receive depends on your copper's grade, quantity, and condition.

At CRC Buyers, we use current market rates. We don't lowball — we want you to come back and send your colleagues.

📊
COMEX Spot Price
The daily copper market price drives the base rate. Higher spot = higher payout for you.
🏷️
Grade / Purity
Bare bright pays the highest percentage of spot. Each step down (insulated wire, mixed copper) pays less.
⚖️
Quantity
Larger quantities can improve your per-pound rate. Commercial lots and recurring accounts get the best pricing.
Pro Tip
Strip Your Wire Before You Call
Stripped bare bright copper pays significantly more than insulated wire. If you have romex, THHN, or other insulated wire, stripping it before you sell can increase your payout by 30–50% depending on wire gauge.
Not sure if it's worth stripping? Send us a photo and we'll tell you exactly how much more you'd get — and whether the labor is worth it for your quantity.

Copper Scrap FAQ

What is the best grade of copper to sell?
Bare bright copper pays the most — it's clean, stripped, uncoated, and unalloyed. #1 copper comes next (clean pipe and wire with minimal oxidation), then #2 (mixed, painted, or soldered copper). Insulated wire pays based on the copper recovery percentage for that wire gauge. Stripping your wire before selling always increases your payout.
Where can I sell copper near me in Florida?
CRC Buyers purchases copper scrap throughout all of Florida. If you're in the Tampa Bay area, you can drop off directly. For other Florida locations, we offer free pickup for qualifying quantities. Call us at 813-845-4168 or fill out the form below — we'll let you know the best option for your situation.
How do I know what grade my copper is?
The easiest way is to send us a photo. Most common grades are easy to identify: bright, stripped wire is bare bright; clean pipe with no paint is #1; pipe with solder joints or paint is #2; wire with insulation still on is insulated wire. If you're mixing grades, we weigh and price each grade separately.
