Copper Pipe
& Tubing.

Florida's older housing stock still runs on copper supply lines, so repipe work produces a steady flow of copper tube. Plumbers and HVAC crews across Pinellas and Tampa Bay are among our most regular copper sellers.

What Counts As
Copper Pipe & Tubing

Knowing which grade you actually have is the difference between getting paid well and getting paid the mixed rate.

Type L & M Pipe
Core grade
Rigid copper supply pipe pulled from repipes. Clean and free of fittings it grades as #1; with solder and fittings attached it is #2.
The bulk of repipe copper.
AC Line Sets
Clean tube
Soft copper tubing from air conditioning changeouts. Usually clean once the insulation is pulled off, and a good grade.
HVAC crews generate this year-round.
Refrigeration Tube
Good
Small-diameter soft copper from refrigeration and ice machines. Often has brazed joints - still worth selling.
Restaurant and commercial kitchen work.
Pipe With Fittings
#2 grade
Copper still carrying brass fittings, solder or valves. We buy it, but cutting the fittings off moves the whole load up a grade.
Twenty minutes of cutting can pay well.

Copper Pipe & Tubing FAQ

Should I cut the fittings off copper pipe before selling?
If you have the volume, yes. Copper pipe free of solder and brass fittings grades as #1; with them attached it is #2. On a whole-home repipe that difference is usually worth far more than the time it takes. On a handful of pieces it is not worth bothering.
Do you buy copper pipe from plumbers and repipe crews?
Yes, and they are among our most regular sellers. We offer scheduled pickup so copper does not accumulate in the yard between jobs.
How much copper comes out of a typical repipe?
A whole-home repipe commonly yields 40 to 100 pounds of copper depending on the size of the house and how it was originally plumbed. Older Pinellas and St. Petersburg homes tend to be at the higher end.
Do you take AC line sets with the insulation still on?
Yes. Pulling the foam insulation is easy and improves the grade, but we will buy it either way and price accordingly.
