Romex / NM-B
Very common
Household branch wiring - copper conductors in a flat plastic sheath, usually 14 or 12 gauge. Bought as-is by the pound.
The single most common wire we see.
THHN / Stranded
Good recovery
Commercial building wire, single conductor in coloured insulation. Higher copper-to-plastic ratio than romex on heavier gauges.
Commercial fit-outs produce it in volume.
Service Entrance Cable
High value
Heavy gauge feeder and service cable. The best insulated wire we buy because the copper-to-plastic ratio is so favourable.
Worth stripping if you have the time.
Bare / Stripped Wire
Top grade
Once stripped and clean, heavy copper wire grades as bare bright - the highest-paying copper grade there is.

Do I have to strip copper wire before selling it?
No. We buy insulated wire as-is and price it on recoverable copper content. Whether stripping is worth your time depends on gauge - on heavy service cable it usually is, on thin romex it usually is not. Tell us what you have and we will give you an honest answer rather than push you either way.
How much is copper wire worth per pound?
It depends on gauge, insulation type and how much copper is actually inside. Heavy stranded cable pays considerably more per pound than thin romex because there is more copper and less plastic. Call 813-845-4168 with what you have for a live quote.
Do you buy burnt copper wire?
We can look at it, but burning wire is illegal in Florida under environmental regulations, and burnt wire is downgraded rather than upgraded - the copper is damaged and contaminated. Bring it unburnt and you will be paid more.
What about copper wire still attached to equipment?
Bring it. Motors, transformers and appliances with copper windings are bought whole - you do not need to tear them down first.
