Florida Scrap Metal Prices

What Your
Scrap Metal
Is Worth.

Scrap prices move with the commodity market every day, so no honest buyer publishes a fixed list. Here is how the grades rank against each other, what drives the number, and how to get more for the same load.

Scrap Grades
By Value

Ordered roughly from highest to lowest value per pound. Exact numbers move daily — call for the live figure on what you actually have.

Bare Bright Copper
Highest copper grade
Clean, uncoated, unalloyed copper wire thicker than 16 gauge, with no corrosion or paint. The most valuable common copper grade — strip your wire and this is what you get.
#1 Copper
High
Clean copper tubing, bus bar and heavy wire, free of solder, paint and fittings. Slightly below bare bright but still a premium grade.
#2 Copper
Good
Copper with light solder, paint or oxidation — typically plumbing pipe with fittings still attached. Cleaning it up moves it toward #1.
Yellow Brass
High
The common brass grade — fittings, fixtures, valves and spent casings. Clean yellow brass with no steel attachments pays the most.
Red Brass
Higher than yellow
Higher copper content than yellow brass, so it pays more. Often found in older valves, pump bodies and marine fittings.
Spent Brass Casings
High
Once-fired brass casings and bulk range brass. Bought by the pound, sorted or unsorted.
Tungsten Carbide
Highest overall
Inserts, end mills, drills and tooling. Pound for pound the most valuable material we buy — worth far more than it looks.
316 / 316L Stainless
Premium stainless
Contains molybdenum for corrosion resistance. Marine, food and pharmaceutical equipment. Pays more than 304.
304 Stainless
Standard stainless
The workhorse grade — sinks, countertops, restaurant equipment, tubing.
Clean Aluminium Extrusion
Top aluminium grade
Window and door frames free of paint, steel and plastic. The highest-paying common aluminium grade.
Cast Aluminium
Good
Heavier castings — engine parts, housings, pump bodies. Slightly below clean extrusion.
Insulated Copper Wire
Varies by recovery
Priced on the copper recoverable inside. Thicker wire with a higher copper-to-plastic ratio pays more.
Where The Money Is

Sorting Is The Fastest Way To Get Paid More

A mixed load gets priced as the lowest-value metal in it. That is the single biggest reason people get less than they expected. Twenty minutes separating copper from brass, pulling steel bolts out of fittings, or keeping carbide inserts out of the steel bin routinely moves a load up a full grade. If you are not sure what you have, bring it in or send a photo — we will tell you honestly whether sorting yours is worth the effort.

Scrap Pricing FAQ

Why don't you publish scrap metal prices on your website?
Because any number we published would be wrong within days. Copper and aluminium trade on global commodity exchanges and scrap prices move with them daily. A site showing a fixed price per pound is either out of date or quoting you a number they will not honour. We quote against the live market when you call, which is the only honest way to do it.
What is the most valuable scrap metal in Florida?
Tungsten carbide, by a wide margin — carbide inserts and tooling are worth far more per pound than any common metal. Among the everyday metals, bare bright copper leads, followed by red brass, yellow brass, 316 stainless and clean aluminium extrusion.
How can I get a higher price for the same scrap?
Separate your metals and clean them. Mixed loads get priced as the lowest-value material in them. Stripping insulation off copper wire, removing steel bolts from brass fittings, and keeping stainless away from carbon steel can each move material up a full grade. On larger loads that is often worth far more than the time it takes.
Do scrap prices change day to day?
Yes. Copper and aluminium track daily commodity movements, and brass and stainless follow their copper and nickel content. Week to week the swing is usually modest, but over months it can be significant. If you are sitting on a large quantity, it is worth asking where the market is before you sell.
How do I get a price for my scrap metal?
Call or text 813-845-4168 with what you have and a rough weight. A photo helps a lot — we can usually identify grade from a picture and give you a realistic number in a few minutes. There is no charge and no obligation.
