How Scrap Metal Pricing
Works in Florida

Scrap prices are not arbitrary. Understanding what drives them helps you know when to sell and how to get more for the same load.

The Metal Itself

Non-ferrous metals — copper, brass, aluminum, stainless — are worth far more per pound than ferrous steel because they can be recycled indefinitely without losing quality. Tungsten carbide sits above all of them. This is why sorting matters: a pound of clean copper is worth many times a pound of mixed scrap.

Grade and Cleanliness

Within each metal there are grades. Bare bright copper pays more than insulated wire. Clean yellow brass pays more than brass with steel fittings attached. Removing steel bolts, plastic, and rubber before you sell can move a load up a full grade — often worth more than the time it takes.

The Live Market

Copper and aluminum trade on global commodity exchanges, and scrap prices track those markets daily. A quote given last month is not today's price. We quote against the current market when you call, which is why we ask what you have rather than publishing a fixed list that would be wrong by the time you read it.

Value depends on the metal, its grade, its cleanliness, and the live commodity market on the day you sell. Rather than publish a price list that goes stale, we quote against the current market when you call. Send a photo by text and give us a rough weight and we can usually give you a realistic number in a few minutes.
Do you offer free scrap metal pickup?
Yes. For qualifying quantities we pick up anywhere in Florida at no charge. This suits contractors, machine shops, restaurants, and businesses that accumulate material steadily and do not want the hauling cost or the downtime. Smaller loads are welcome too — call and we will tell you honestly whether pickup makes sense or whether dropping off is better for you.
Do I need to sort my scrap before selling it?
You do not have to, but sorting usually pays. Mixed loads get priced as the lowest-value material in them, so separating clean copper from insulated wire, or brass from steel-attached fittings, can meaningfully raise what you are paid. On larger loads the difference is often worth far more than the time spent. Ask us and we will tell you whether sorting your specific load is worth it.
How do I get paid, and how fast?
